Celestial Readings
Throughout the entire 28-month journey, Lewis and Clark endeavored to accomplish the directives of their president. Jefferson's knowledge of the west, Congress's satisfaction with the expedition, and future entrepreneurial ventures depended upon the maps Clark would draw. Consequently, Lewis and Clark understood clearly the significance of acquiring celestial readings and scientific information. Often it would have been easier for the two co-captains to fall into a deep slumber after a grueling day; but, instead they recorded their celestial data while their men slept. Many more discoveries await the curious in The Lewis & Clark Expedition in an Uncharted Wildernessİ. |
