Clark Healing the Ill
Welcoming the Corps of Discovery in May 1806 the Chopunish (Nez Perce) provided roots and horses to the needy expedition. The already strong friendship was cemented through symbiotic needs. Clark's compassion for the ailing people, coupled with the expedition's dire need to secure provisions, created the ultimate trading relationship.
