Traveling the Lolo Trail
Starvation, frigid winds, blowing snow and worry were constant companions of the eleven-day trek across the Bitterroot Mountains in September 1805. The infrequently used trail was often difficult and sometimes impossible to follow in the deep snow. Shivering, ravenous, suffering from dysentery and carefully placing every step, the demoralized Corps of Discovery marched slowly westward. Needing to quickly find the Nez Perce before the expedition froze or starved to death was paramount in the minds of Lewis and Clark. Discover how Clark found the Nez Perce in The Lewis & Clark Expedition in an Uncharted Wildernessİ. |
