Meeting the Shoshone
Summer was quickly slipping by as the Corps of Discovery headed deeper into the Rocky Mountains. Finding the Shoshones was an absolute; without their assistance success was unlikely. Teased by the occasional sight or appearance of Indians, Lewis and Clark knew they were in the correct general geographic location to meet the Shoshone. Grappling with the question of how to establish meaningful contact, Lewis and three men went ahead of the main party. Thirteen discouraging days elapsed before Lewis would finally meet three Shoshone women. Discover what happened next in The Lewis & Clark Expedition in an Uncharted Wildernessİ. |
